The beginning of our 2007 "Wish" list:
Plastic Easter Eggs filled with candy, small toys or cash (The kids especially liked the change!)... we will need several
thousand of these!
Items for a childs gift bag (as is White House tradition upon leaving) such as coloring books, crayons,
pencils, full size candy like a chocolate Easter bunny (maybe Russell-Stover or another Texas based company would donate
these if asked), children's books. There is usually a painted wooden easter egg also given as a lasting reminder of
the hunt at the WH... Anyone really crafty and creative? 1000 of each item.
CASH! CASH! CASH! for all the necessary items like port-o-potties and inflatable bounce rooms and slides for the kids
and fun things like cash in the golden eggs!
Booths we would like to add for 2007:
Ring Toss:
Look for items that are reduced at places like Target, HEB or Wal-mart (Wynne from Burleson picked up some of the Easter
buckets that we gave the kids at half price to use next year!)
Get Well cards for wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center
I will be in DC for a while the end of April and am collecting get well cards with personal messages
of thanks and support which I will deliver to wounded soldiers recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington.
DC on April 28, 2006. I will then join the protest against Code Pink's protest in front of the hospital.
This is something I have wanted to do since finding out about it last August. It is absolutely the sickest thing that I have
ever heard of... protesting the war at the feet of our heroes hospital beds. Unbelievable! I want to go to let them know that
there are Americans that support them and their bravery!
Code Pink is one of the radical groups behind Cindy Sheehan, who's organizers also traveled to Iraq to donate
$600,000 to terrorists who are plotting against our US soldiers.
I learned of the liberal anti-war activist group Code Pink's vigils every Friday evening at the
front gates of Walter Reed while organizing the Pro-Troops, Pro-Bush ditch in Crawford opposing Cindy Sheehan and the Code
Pink group last August. The protesters hold signs at the hospital that read "Maimed for a Lie" and "Enlist here to die for
Halliburton." Among the props used by the protesters are mock caskets, lined up on the sidewalk to represent the death toll
in Iraq.
Code Pink has disrupted the Republican Nation Convention in New York by planting a person with Impeach Bush
signs brought out during his acceptance speech along with their group protesting with 'pink slips,' undergarments symbolizing
their effort for impeaching Bush, outside Madison Square Garden. We also saw try to carry out the same sort
of disruption as the President gave his Inaugural speech in 2005.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE, PLEASE BRING GET WELL CARDS (INCLUDING YOUR SIGNED NOTES OF GRATITUDE)
IN UNSEALED ENVELOPES TO THE EASTER EGG ROLL OR MAIL THEM TO BE RECEIVED BY APRIL 19th 2006 TO:
